From an early age, my parents taught me to be honest and try my very best in everything I do. As I got older, I started to understand this in a much greater way. As school got more challenging and the work load grew larger, I learned that you have to work hard to get the grades you want. I did well in school throughout middle school, but high school was a whole other ball game. There was more work and the material was a lot more in depth. I learned that if I wanted to excel, I had to put the time and dedication into my studies. Climbing the mountain had gotten a little bit harder.

While in high school, I chose to stay home most nights and work on school work, while others chose to hangout with friends. When tests came around, I would receive one of the higher grades in my class. I started truly realizing that hard work really does pay off; and that is a phrase that has resinated with me to this day.

From all of my years in school, my strongest subjects have been math's and science's (specifically Chemistry). I enjoyed math, especially, because when doing a math problem there is one specific answer, so I would know whether I got the answer right or wrong. Out of the different learning styles, the one that suits me the most would be hands on. If I am just shown how to do something, I do not grasp it quickly. However, if I do something myself (work a math problem), I will grasp the material much quicker and remember it longer.

Working hard has not only helped me in school, but other things as well, such as karate. Karate is all about commitment and hard work. Every karate class was reassurance that if I worked hard, I would excel and reach the goals I was going for. The more time I spent practicing, the better I got and the faster I excelled. Hard work has definitely paid off in karate, and I will continue to use that phrase and motivation throughout my life to get me to where I want to be.

A few other things that I enjoy doing outside of school are playing basketball, tennis, cooking, bowling, and exercising. I enjoy nature and spending time outdoors; as well as taking photos of nature. I have always enjoyed being active, and staying active is an essential part to staying heathy and happy. The one last, and most important thing that I enjoy doing outside of school is spending time with my family and two wonderful dogs.
